Responsibilities:
The role involves general cleaning duties and related functions, reporting to the Head of Department (HOD) – Campus Cleaning. Key responsibilities include:
- Cleaning premises according to schedule and standards.
- Emptying and cleaning bins regularly.
- Maintenance of a clean and hygienic environment including kitchens, fridges, and staff dining areas.
- Vacuuming and washing floors, cleaning walls, and staircases.
- Ensuring cleanliness of kitchen, toilet, and bathroom fixtures and restocking consumables.
- Tidying and cleaning areas after meetings or events.
- Spot cleaning spillages and maintaining stock control of cleaning materials.
- Reporting maintenance or occupational health and safety issues.
- Ensuring compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies.
- Foster a positive work environment, teamwork, and institutional culture.
Requirements:
- Grade 10/Standard 8; Grade 12 qualification advantageous.
- At least 2 years’ experience as a Cleaner in a similar environment.
- Knowledge and experience with cleaning equipment, chemicals, and safety regulations.
Competencies:
- Knowledge of cleaning best practices.
- Punctuality, reliability, time management skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Client service orientation, ability to work independently or in a team.
- Reading skills for following instructions, computer literacy.
- Attention to detail, fitness, personal hygiene, honesty, and adherence to timelines.
